Boxer-Macomber Ensures Driver Held Accountable for Three Foot Violation Citation

Attorney Boxer-Macomber went the extra mile this month and appeared for one of her injured bike law clients in traffic court. Although the driver at fault initially contested the unsafe pass of Boxer-Macomber’s client and obtained defense counsel to fight the ticket, the driver ultimately agreed to judgment against her and paid the ticket. Boxer-Macomber reminds everyone that bicyclists should be given at least three feet, and sometimes more, when passed by a motor vehicle.

Lauri Boxer-Macomber joins the Bike Law Network

Lauri Boxer-Macomber recently joined the Bike Law Network, a group of attorneys throughout the United States and Canada who regularly advocate for the rights of bicyclists in the courthouse, at the legislature and on the roadway. Lauri is honored to be able to work with this group of talented attorneys who share her commitment to ensuring that bicyclists are given access to justice and are treated fairly in the legal system. She is also pleased to be able to offer her own insights and experiences working on bicycle cases over the years with other attorneys in the Bike Law Network. Lauri works with racers, triathletes, children bicyclists, commuters, recreational riders and others on their bicycle cases. She not only understands bicycling law because she is an attorney, but because she is a cyclist. Lauri has handled a wide range of bicycle cases, including those involving right hooks, unsafe left crosses, dangerous travelling distances, three-foot law violations, uncontrolled dogs and more. She is also on the Board of the Bicycle Coalition of Maine and Chair of the Coalition’s Policy and Legislation Committee. Court Awards Judgement of Nearly $1.8 Million to KRZ Clients Represented by Graydon Stevens and Lauri Boxer-Macomber

The Bangor Daily News recently featured a story about the nearly 1.8 Million Dollar Judgment obtained by Kelly, Remmel and Zimmerman attorneys Graydon Stevens and Lauri Boxer-Macomber on behalf of their clients in a case involving the interplay between employment and personal injury law. The case was litigated for several years and survived an earlier motion for summary judgment brought by Ahlholm, Inc.

Lauri Boxer-Macomber Speaks on Bicycle Law & Policy

Lauri Boxer-Macomber was recently a featured speaker on bicycle law at the Maine Trial Lawyers Association’s winter continuing legal education program. Lauri offered an overview of important considerations for attorneys doing intake and discovery on bicycle cases, as well as discussed recent bicycle cases in the media and courts. She also gave an update on 2014-2015 legislative and advocacy efforts designed to protect bicyclists and other vulnerable users in Maine.
