R. Terrance Duddy completed his term as President of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association in April 2009 and is now a member of the Executive Board of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association.
During his term as president of the MTLA, Terry was a featured speaker at the two day Litigation Institute and at CLE’s in Eastport and Presque Isle.
As President of the Association, Terry also testified before the House Judiciary Committee on the renomination of Leigh Saufley to be Chief of the Maine Supreme Court and he testified in favor of a number of other State District Court and Superior Court judges who were up for reappointment to the bench.
In addition, during his term as President, Terry worked closely with Peter Pitegoff, Dean of the University of Maine School of Law, to put on a critically important symposium entitled “The Economy, the Courts and the Way Forward: Maine’s Court System in 2014.” The Symposium panel included Governor John Baldacci, Chief Justice Leigh Saufley, Attorney General Janet Mills, Maine State Senate President Elizabeth Mitchell, and Maine Speaker of the House Hannah Pingree. Terry delivered the opening remarks at the Symposium and at the end of the Symposium announced that the Law Review for the University of Maine School of Law will be doing a “Symposium” edition of the Law Review which will focus on the ideas generated by the Symposium.
